Pronorm Y-Line kitchen in Kingston

About Project

The Client Brief

A rear extension had created a large open plan space that would be used for the kitchen and dining. The client wanted all white gloss units, with an island to seat 4 people and had a specific list of Siemens appliances she wanted.

With a growing family, the client had thought through exactly how she needed the kitchen to work. She wanted her children to be able to easily find the breakfast cereal to look after themselves first thing in the morning but didn’t want them to have access to her full pull out larder. We’re sure many parents can relate!

The Challenge

The kitchen space was L shaped within the new open space created – but the return wall was tight with space for what needed to be fitted in it. A large American fridge freezer, eye-level oven, Steam oven and deep warming drawer, and tall pull-out larder needed to all be accommodated.

What we did

The return wall was kept streamlined to accommodate the fridge/freezer, oven housing and pull-out larder. We then added a Roller Shutter unit in the farthest corner to house small appliances with a corner Le-mans below. This utilised the length of the return wall space with ease of access for all units.

To create the feeling of more space we opened up the back wall – the higher units did not start from the corner leaving open space for a clock or picture, whilst still utilising the length of the wall for worktop space.

The island in the centre housed 2 deep drawers answering the client’s need for easy access to where breakfast cereals could be stored for the kids.

The Corian worktop here was thicker than the main run with a down stand to one side and cantilevered on the opposite side to create the required seating.

Products used:

Pronorm Y Line High Gloss Lacquer in Super White with the island in Gloss Cubanit to add a subtle touch of contrast to all white.

Corian Designer white worktops in both 24mm and 50mm.

Siemens appliances, Quooker hot tap and glass splashbacks.

End result

A lovely, airy, well balanced open space that functioned seamlessly.
